Alfred L. Ochs, Ph.D.
Neurophysiologist, Biomedical Engineer
Dr. Ochs holds a B.S. in Physics (1963) from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (1969) from Washington University, St. Louis. His clinical research training included a postdoctoral fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology and Senior Fellow in Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco, and as and as a Visiting Research Associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. He joined the Neuro-Ophthalmology faculty, Department of Neurology, Medical College of Virginia where he served for thirteen years. He became an original member of Virginia Commonwealth University’s Biomedical Engineering Program (now Department) and currently is an affiliate member of their Graduate Faculty. He has held the position of Consultant in Neurology at the McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center since 1979, with a special interest in neurological and balance disorders following traumatic brain injury. At VIN he is responsible for our volumetric analyses of high resolution MRI brain scans (NeuroQuant® technology).
